Outra

Making the data behind Outra feel like real households, not just numbers.

The Problem

Outra had a new product launch built on a lot of complex data, but data alone doesn't sell a story. The challenge was translating dense, abstract numbers into something an audience could actually feel and understand quickly. Without a way to ground the data in real life, the launch risked landing as another technical explainer that failed to build genuine awareness or connect with the people it was meant to reach.

The Approach

Rather than illustrating the data as charts and graphs, I built a 3D world around it. Real households, real scenarios, real moments that people recognise, so the data had somewhere to live instead of floating in the abstract. This turned Outra's numbers into a story an audience could follow and remember. To get the most from the launch, the video wasn't built as a single asset. Alongside the full-length launch video, I produced a set of shorter cuts, loops and thumbnails, so Outra had ready-to-use content across every marketing channel from day one, not just a single hero video sitting on a landing page.

"Ben produced a motion video for our product launch and was excellent to work with throughout. He understood the brief straight away, communicated clearly, moved quickly and delivered a really high-quality final product. I’d happily recommend him to anyone looking for strong motion work without a lot of hand-holding."

Pre-production

Before any animation started, the video needed a spine. I mapped the story from hook to resolution, starting with the household-level detail that made Outra's data feel real, then building out to the platform, the benefits, and the wider proposition. This structure meant every scene had a job to do, so the final video never drifted into abstract data-speak.

Social Short

The full launch video couldn't be the only asset. I cut a short, sound-off-friendly version built for feeds, distilling the story down to its clearest, most shareable moment. It gave Outra another way to open conversations on social.

Bonus Reach Pack

Rather than let the visual world end with the hero video, I pulled key moments and frames out of it, the houses, the households, the data visuals, and repackaged them as standalone assets: customer matching, privacy-safe targeting, untapped potential. Outra launched with a consistent story across every channel, built entirely from one production rather than requiring separate briefs and shoots for each piece.

Results

The launch gave Outra a way to explain a genuinely complex product without leaning on jargon or charts. By grounding the data in real households and real moments, the video did the work of making an abstract idea feel immediate and easy to trust, exactly what a first-touch launch asset needs to do.
